Arangetram
Bharatanatyam Arangetram, a pivotal event in a dancer's odyssey, signifies their preparedness for a solo performance. The term "Arangetram", holding a profound significance, translates to "ascending the stage" in Tamil. The Arangetram is a celebration of dedication, discipline, and artistic expression, symbolizing the blossoming of a dancer's talent on the stage of cultural heritage.
Guru
Smt. Sudha Krishnamurthy
Sudha Krishnamurthy embarked on her artistic journey under the tutelage of Natyacharya Guru Sri Aravindan and Kala Acharya Smt. Vasantha Aravindan of Koothambalam in Chennai. In 2014, her enduring passion for Bharatanatyam fueled her to establish Thapasya School of Dance, offering classes in Ellicott City, MD, Ashburn and Aldie, VA. She continues to collaborate closely with her revered guru and eminent artists in India, contributing to the creation and curation of original compositions that define Thapasya's unique artistic identity. Sudha has actively engaged with Magnet schools in Anne Arundel and Baltimore Counties, advocating for Bharatanatyam as a graded subject during her tenure. She also serves as the cultural liaison at the Murugan Temple of North America (MTNA), spearheading initiatives showcasing the cultural depth and beauty of Bharatanatyam.
Sudha is dedicated to preserving the authenticity and quality of this ancient art form, while infusing it with her signature touch. Her creative flair shines through in her teaching and choreography, captivating students of all ages and delighting audiences from all backgrounds. Her distinctive choreographies are renowned throughout the DMV area.
