Chelsea offers an ever-changing landscape of contemporary art. But knowing where to go, which exhibitions to prioritize, and how to spend meaningful time with the work can make all the difference.
Join Urbn ArtHeaux's Black Art on View guided gallery crawl through Chelsea, highlighting exhibitions by Black artists and creating space to look, learn, and connect.
Curator and writer Brooke Finister leads this 90-minute experience, bringing together a selection of exhibitions worth making time for. Along the way, we’ll consider the materials, histories, ideas, and artistic practices that shape the work on view.
Whether you’re a seasoned gallery-goer or building your own exhibition-going practice, this is an opportunity to experience Chelsea with greater intention.

About Your Guide
Brooke Finister is a curator, researcher, and writer working across contemporary art, material culture, archives, and Black feminist visual culture. Through Black Art on View, she develops exhibition guides and critical writing that help audiences discover artists, engage with exhibitions, and understand the broader conversations shaping contemporary art.
These crawls extend that work beyond the page, creating opportunities to encounter the art in person and develop a more informed, curious, and sustained relationship with it.
