With the support of the First Nation Leadership Council, FNESS is the organization that communities reach out to for support and delivery of essential emergency and forest fuel management programs and services. British Columbia, along with the rest of the world, is having longer hot seasons, warmer year-round weather, more drought, and continued atmospheric river events. With the continued increase in significant severe weather patterns FNESS is hosting training sessions to provide the skills, knowledge, and abilities to First Nations people and contracts crews, so they are efficient and effective in the field when responding to and providing support. All funds raised from the BFL Grouse Grind Challenge go towards the FNESS. This year we are supporting the increased ask for 72hr emergency kits and the further development of their boot camp project which offers training on wildfire safety, structure defense and structure protection activities, pumps and pumping, hose lays, and many other skills.
