    Reducing the Peak: Distributed Energy Solutions to Meet New York's Climate Goals

    This panel discussion will focus on load reduction technologies and programs that New York will need to implement for successful building and transportation electrification. We will review the results of the integration analysis conducted by the Climate Action Council, specifically its assessment of load reduction programs, and we will discuss additional load reduction items, including managed EV charging, rate design, energy storage, and energy efficiency measures.

    Interconnection Reform in New York

    Reforming and improving the interconnection process is a priority for ACE members, for the NYISO, and for FERC. Come hear how changes to the interconnection process could reduce timelines, increase transparency, and reduce risk. This panel will discuss if and how NYISO’s process can align with FERC Order 2023 and allow projects to interconnect in time to meet the 2030 NY Climate Act goals.

    Successful Steps for Building Electrification

    The panel will focus on the steps New York State should be taking to ensure a smooth and successful building electrification transition. With the implementation of the Federal Inflation Reduction Act, the new Public Service Commission Order modifying NYSERDA and the utilities’ New Efficiency: New York programs, New York City’s Local Law 97, and the recent State building code changes, including the All-Electric Buildings Act, the panel will discuss the steps New York should take for an effective and efficient building electrification transition.

    New York’s Evolving Paradigm for OSW Transmission Planning and Investment

    New York is experimenting with new approaches for facilitating investment in OSW-related transmission, bringing offshore clean energy into the highly constrained Downstate market. This panel will describe New York’s multi-faceted effort to de-risk transmission development, and ensure that it syncs up with the state’s ambitious OSW deployment goals while minimizing ratepayer and stakeholder impacts.

    Constructing an EV Ready Grid

    This panel will focus on what New York State needs to do to ensure that we are planning for and implementing the grid upgrades needed for fleet, highway, and public charging infrastructure. With the enactment of the Federal Infrastructure Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, the Public Service Commission’s mid-point review of the Infrastructure Make Ready program, and the passage of grid planning legislation
    (S.4830-C/A.5052-C), we will discuss the steps New York should be taking to construct an EV ready grid.
