In the 1980's there was racial strife in Jacksonville, Florida. Establishing a Martin Luther King Jr.  Holiday nationally and locally became heartfelt battles. Both black and white citizens came together and decided that a breakfast that pays tribute to the ideals of Martin L. King Jr. would help heal wounds and honor the civil rights movement.
